The goal of the master plan study was to illustrate how a “connective tourism system” between the numerous vineyards and wineries spanning the extensive Yakima Valley could economically benefit the region. The plan called for directing visitors toward smaller loops, enhanced by scenic views, restful shaded stops, paths, parks and landmarks. The study proposed information centers be set up along the main routes utilizing as much of the existing infrastructure as possible and encouraging land owners to develop agritouristic bed and breakfast locales in the European tradition.
